We are thoroughly excited to have you as a part of our magic making here in downtown Negaunee.
Dining at Strega Nonna is a little different... Here, we’re trying our best to share the type of dining experiences we loved in Italy. The food is inspired by our memories, both from childhood and our international travels. All while highlighting the Upper Peninsula's ingredients, regional specialties, cultures, and traditions. We always encourage multi-course and family-style dining.
Our menus feature as many local ingredients from local farms as possible. Our focus is on highlighting authentic style European and Italian faire, international food, and U.P. regional dishes. The bar features local beer, craft cocktails, and lovely affordable wines from Italy and the Michigan region.
Menus change often, even daily! The strega experience is always an improvised multicourse menu created with your requests in mind. A small a la carte menu is always available. Click links to see examples.
Join us for our themed event nights inspired by the seasons and regions! Strega Nonna hosts monthly, reservation-only dinners offering a fixed price multi-course menu paired with carefully selected wines.
Food is served family style, with dishes come out slowly as they're ready. Dining is unhurried, food and wine are plentiful, and it’s set in a joyful, colorful environment surrounded by art and music.
We're open Thursday - Saturday, 5pm - 9pm starting back in beginning of December (CLOSED FOR FALL SEASON NOW)
Located in the center of downtown Negaunee and above Strega Nonna, Casa Nonnina offers three apartments (1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and 4 bedroom)!
We're just across the street from the heritage trail hiking, cross country skiing, & Ramba Mountain, snow bike and snowmobile trail systems. Stay with us and enjoy natures' playground before stopping by for a bite or a drink.
The name Strega Nonna, which means “Grandma Witch,” was inspired from a favorite Italian fairytale about a grandma who has a magical pot - she can cast a spell to make the pot cook pasta. Rachael, like Strega Nonna, has a magic touch when it comes to everything she makes.
Rachael Grossman is a native of Negaunee, but has had the opportunity to live in Italy, where she fell in love with the native culture and cuisine there. Rachael has owned and operated a very successful restaurant called Artigiano (@artigianopdx on Instagram) in Portland, Oregon since 2010. Her mission has always been to re-create the experiences she had while living and traveling through Italy. She has embraced the role of the Italian grandmother that everyone wishes they had (or that they do have.)
Rachael decided to bring that experience here to her hometown of Negaunee, to bring people together over memorable dishes and drinks in an unhurried, fun, and casual atmosphere including live music and multi-course feasting. Her hope is to be part of revitalizing the downtown area of Negaunee with delicious food and a cozy gathering place for the community.
